New York Times bestseller Nikki Grimes has received the Virginia Hamilton Lifetime Achievement Award, ALAN Award for teen literature, Children’s Literature Legacy Medal, NCTE Award for Excellence in Poetry for Children, the Coretta Scott King Award, and five Coretta Scott King Honors.
