Noah Van Sciver has written and illustrated iconic comics for adults about Abraham Lincoln, Johnny Appleseed, and the Grateful Dead. In his first middle-grade graphic novel, Paul Bunyan: The Invention of an American Legend: A TOON Graphic, he set out to tell the real story of an American myth with co-author Marlena Myles. This book is bracketed by rich contributions from contemporary Native artists and storytellers with a very different connection to the land that the Bunyan myths often conceal. Noah himself is pictured above, as drawn by himself, reading King Cat Classix by John Porcellino.
