Lonnie Johnson’s Super-Soaking Stream of Inventions (written by Chris Barton and illustrated by Tate), was named one of the best children’s books of the year by the American Booksellers Association. The Brown Bookshelf is designed to push awareness of the myriad Black voices writing for young readers. A leader in the children’s book diversity movement, they were the 2019 winners of the CBC Diversity Outstanding Achievement Award, a partner of the Children’s Book Council on book lists and program sponsorships, and, now, an Every Child a Reader and Get Caught Reading partner.
